I was honored to be part of the 2016 Transmediale Festival, in Berlin. Teresa Dillon, Professor of City Futures at UWE in Bristol, and also a regular curator for the annual media arts & digital technology festival, asked to collaborate on a visual documentation of her guests, for the 4 day event.
All of the subjects were shot on location during the festival period (2-7th Feb ‘16). I attempted to utilized the unique architectural specificities of The Haus der Kulturen der Welt and also incorporated the architectural groups, Raumlabor, exhibition design as a background, to a collection of portraits and images, which capture the characters, objects and humor of the #makestream participants.
Over the 4 days, I met an eclectic group of artists, musicians, designers, scientists, doctors, inventors, dreamers, all pushing the envelope in their fields. Many thanks to all those that made time to be photographed and an even bigger thanks to entrusting me and playing muse. The taping into each individuals inner thespian, made for a much more interesting story. And in the end, isn’t that all that really matters?
